Congratulations, racist idiots!Quote from:General Motors announced today that, due in large part to Donald Trump’s disastrous tariffs and costly trade war, it’s slashing thousands of jobs in North America. A few regions in particular are going to be hit hard by this. Among them: Michigan and Ohio. These are, of course, two states which saw a whole lot of people rush out to vote for Trump, for racist reasons.
I don’t know whether to feel sorry for any of these folks or not. Everyone deserves the opportunity to work for a living, and when they get laid off, their entire family suffers. And of course the specific people who cast racist votes for Trump are not necessarily the same specific people who are losing their jobs today. But there’s something morbidly fitting in that, if the Trump disaster is going to hit anyone in the wallet, it’s turned out to be his own racist base.
Let’s be clear here. There are craven racists who voted for Donald Trump because they knew his racist lies were racist lies, and they didn’t care; they just loved that Trump was telling them that their own failings and mistakes in life were the fault of some other people who look different than they do. Then there are the paranoid, gullible types who actually did believe Trump’s asinine lies about Mexican rapists pouring over the border to come beat down their doors.
Where do you draw the line between feeling pity for what these idiots have done to themselves, and feeling like they had it coming? I truly don’t know. How many of them wish they could have voted differently, now that this has blown up on them precisely like the rest of us told them it would? How many of them will continue gleefully riding the Trump Train to their own personal destruction? After all, at least they got to vote for a white guy who told them their crappy lives were the fault of a bunch of non-white people. And isn’t that worth facing the unemployment line?
A very cheesy looking blog, loaded with clickbait ads. So many ads you can't hardly follow the articles. Obviously, Palmer has even less web designing skills than I do. I have seen better websites made by 12 yr olds.
Here is a link to a review by mediabiasfactcheck.com:
Here are some excerpts:
These media sources are moderately to strongly biased toward liberal causes through story selection and/or political affiliation. They may utilize strong loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes), publish misleading reports and omit reporting of information that may damage liberal causes. Some sources in this category may be untrustworthy. See all Left Bias sources.
Factual Reporting: MIXED
Notes from Dave Van Zandt: The Palmer Report is a news and opinion blog/website created by Bill Palmer the former writer and owner of Daily News Bin. The Palmer Report is typically well sourced and usually points to credible sources. However, there is a very strong liberal bias in reporting and story content. The Palmer Report uses loaded words and sensational headlines that don’t always reflect the content of the article. An example headline is as follows: Donald Trump’s demented “Happy New Year” tweet is the worst thing you’ll read all year. The Palmer Report has been criticized by the Slate for publishing misinformation. Palmer Report also has false and unproven claims according to Snopes, which Mr. Palmer calls the National Enquirer.
From the well respected Atlantic regarding fake news: “It’s more wish-fulfillment stuff. “Trump About to be Arrested!” Well, yeah, when’s that gonna happen? And we know it’s coming from the left because I know it’s coming from known players. Bill Palmer used to run the Daily News Bin, and it was basically a pro-Hillary Clinton “news site.” It was out there to counter misinformation. Which, okay, fair enough. But then he started to reinvent it as a news site, more and more, and he changed the name to the Palmer Report. The stuff that he puts out there, it’s nominally true. When you click on it, it’s some innocuous story [with an outlandish headline]. That is very harmful, I think.”
Here is a list of additional False and Misleading Claims:
(11/25/2016) Updated (1/29/2018)
Notes from Dennis Kelley: The Palmer Report (TPR) is a liberally biased news site / blog that deals more in confirmation bias than in actual reporting. Confirmation bias generally consists of taking a set of facts, often unrelated, and building a web of conjecture around them in order to present a specific point of view as opposed to the actual facts. While confirmation bias may not be, technically, fake news, the sensational nature of this type of reporting often does more harm than good. Mr. Palmer has been criticized for inaccurate reporting in his work by other fact and bias checking sites, both for his work on Daily News Bin and on TPR, as evidenced by the entries on this list from Snopes, as well this article from the The Atlantic. Although TPR does contain some factual content, the misleading and biased way in which it is presented earns TPR a Questionable rating. (D. Kelley 4/3/17)
Update: 3/31/17: Mr. Palmer has republished his false report regarding Media Bias Fact Check from Daily News Bin to the Palmer Report. You can read our response here.
Update 4/18/17: Mr. Palmer wrote another false and libelous article about Media Bias Fact Check. Here is our response. His consistent false reporting on MBFC without evidence to support his claims dictates that we move the Palmer Report to our Questionable Source list due to lack of sourced evidence, numerous false and unproven reports from fact checkers and extreme bias in reporting.
