President Trump says he was ‘not happy’ with N.C. rally chants of ‘send her home’

OAN Newsroom

UPDATED 1:45 PM PT – Thursday, July 18, 2019

President Trump said he was “not happy” with some of his supporters in North Carolina after they began chanting “send her back” in reference to congresswoman Ilhan Omar. At the White House Thursday, the president said he did not condone the crowd’s rallying cry and disagreed with the statement.

When asked by reporters why he did not stop the chanting, the president said he believes he spoke up very quickly to stop the calls against Omar. He also told reporters to ask the people of North Carolina why they began chanting the phrase.

Meanwhile, conservative activists launched an online effort to support President Trump in his standoff with far-left Democrats. The new hashtag — #IStandWithPresTrump — emerged on social media Thursday in response to an online campaign in support of Representative Omar. The hashtag was trending on Twitter, following the North Carolina rally.

However, left-wing users launched a trolling campaign and posted offensive images under the hashtag. Despite their efforts, President Trump said his supporters far outnumber far-left-radicals.

The hashtag –#SendHerBack — also trended on Twitter Thursday in response to anti-American and anti-Semitic comments by the far-left “squad.”

RNC sends message to Democrat lawmakers

OAN Newsroom

UPDATED 6:45 AM PT – Thursday, July 18, 2019

The Republican National Committee (RNC) is sending a bold message to dozens of top ranking Democrats, meant as a reminder of how lucky they are to live in the United States.

The RNC plans on sending around 70 Democrat officials packages containing the American flag, and a copy of the country’s flag code. This follows a number of protests in recent weeks, where the flag has been burned and desecrated by left-wing activists.

Earlier this month for instance, Nike recalled a patriotic shoe design meant to celebrate the Fourth of July after a number of Democrats, including multiple presidential candidates, called the shoe racist for having the original Betsy Ross flag on its heel.

In another Independence Day debacle, a number of anti-American protestors burned the flag outside of the White House ahead of President Trump’s patriotic “Salute to America” event.

Just last week, a group of protesters in Colorado stormed an ICE facility and replaced the American Flag with the Mexican flag in an apparent protest against ICE’s planned crackdown on illegal immigration.

19 out of the 20 Democrats who appeared in the first primary debate last month will receive the packages as well as multiple Democrat Party leaders, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Democrat National Committee (DNC) chairman Tom Perez. RNC officials say they hope Democrats will respond by recognizing how blessed they are to live in America.

Boris Johnson: U.K. can do great trade deals with both EU and U.S.

OAN Newsroom

UPDATED 11:02 AM PT – Thursday, July 18, 2019

Leading U.K. prime minister candidate Boris Johnson provided an update on Brexit, claiming “great trade deals” can be struck with both the European Union and the United States.

In an interview Wednesday, Johnson assured this is not something that’s going to be done instantly. However, he says if the deal is made, it will substantially boost gross domestic product in due time.

“The United States is by far our single most important national destination for British exports,” he stated. “…and it’s growing…look at the growth, just in the U.S. alone, look at the growth in the Commonwealth countries, look at the growth in export markets around the world…”

Several U.S. senators have warned the U.K. trade deal could falter in Congress due to Democrat obstruction. Some members of the leftist party said they would oppose a trade deal with the U.K. if Britain leaves the EU without a deal. Regardless, Johnson remains optimistic:

“Because you can do a great trade deal with the EU, but you can also do a great trade deal with the U.S. and others. Now, the funny thing is the EU, 10 years ago, represented substantially over half our export market; it’s now substantially under half.”

Johnson also reassured his plan to leave the EU by October 31st will be a success. He then refuted reports a no-deal Brexit could undermine unity among the U.K.’s ruling conservatives.

This comes as Johnson and Foreign Affairs Secretary Jeremy Hunt faced their final debate Wednesday. Members of the U.K. Conservative Party will elect Britain’s next prime minister on July 22nd.

House votes to repeal Obamacare ‘Cadillac tax’

OAN Newsroom

UPDATED 10:28 AM PT – Thursday, July 18, 2019

The House voted to stop an unpopular Obamacare tax from taking effect. Republicans and Democrats joined together Wednesday to repeal the so-called Cadillac tax. The provision seeks to excise a 40-percent tax on top tier insurance plans in an attempt lower nationwide health care costs.

The tax has faced opposition by both sides of the aisle, causing several delays in its roll out. Critics say a fundamental issue of the Obama-era measure is that it is not adjustable to region, income level or health condition. Due to its lack of flexibility, legislators claim the levy harms middle class families the most.

“This tax will have a disproportionate impact on working families, particularly families with incomes between $38,000 and $100,000 a year while sparing the wealthy,” stated Rep. Judy Chu, (D) California

Both employers and unions have also stood in opposition to the measure as it penalizes employers for providing “luxurious” benefits for employees.

According to a Kaiser Family Foundation analysis, the Obamacare tax could affect 46-percent of employers by the year 2030. The vote to repeal the provision comes as Republicans attempt to throw out Obamacare all together.

“Obamacare doesn’t work. It’s too expensive…you take a look at everything with deductibles; it’s a disaster. It’s a disaster for our people. We’re not going to allow it to go. So, we’re coming up with plans. We have a lawsuit right now going, where phase one of the lawsuit terminates Obamacare — essentially terminates Obamacare.” — President Trump

A coalition of Republican attorneys general and governors in 20 states have filed a lawsuit against the Affordable Care Act. According to the Trump administration-backed suit, the law is unconstitutional now that the individual mandate was repealed by the 2017 Republican tax cut law.

A federal judge in Texas agreed with the plaintiffs, and the case is now before an appellate court in New Orleans. The case could reportedly be heard by the Supreme Court if the appellate court backs the ruling.
