Pres. Trump Responds to Rep. Amash’s Impeachment Call

OAN Newsroom

UPDATED 10:10 AM PT – Sun. May 19, 2019

President Trump is firing back at GOP Representative Justin Amash after he accused the President of obstructing justice.

In a message to Twitter Sunday, President Trump called the lawmaker a total ‘lightweight’ who only opposes Republican ideas to make his name known.

This comes after Amash made headlines Saturday for becoming the first GOP Congressman to signal for impeachment.

He also accused the Attorney General of ‘deliberately misrepresent(ing) Mueller’s report.’

While the Special Counsel’s report conclusively found no collusion between the 2016 Trump campaign and the Russians, House Democrats are still largely divided on impeachment.

The lawmaker has been a vocal critic of the Administration, and voted with a Democrat majority in February to overturn the President’s Emergency Declaration at the U.S.-Mexico border, A move which was unsuccessful.

GOP Rep. Justin Amash Calls for Impeachment of President Trump

Libertarian Republican Congressman Justin Amash of Michigan called for the impeachment of President Trump on Saturday, becoming the first GOP congressman or senator to do so. Amash also accused Attorney General William Barr of misleading the public about the findings of the Mueller report.

Last month Amash expressed his openness to running against President Trump in 2020 as the Libertarian Party candidate, Roll Call reported.

Amash made his case in a Twitter thread which is presented below without commentary.

Here are my principal conclusions:

1. Attorney General Barr has deliberately misrepresented Mueller’s report.

2. President Trump has engaged in impeachable conduct.

3. Partisanship has eroded our system of checks and balances.

4. Few members of Congress have read the report.

I offer these conclusions only after having read Mueller’s redacted report carefully and completely, having read or watched pertinent statements and testimony, and having discussed this matter with my staff, who thoroughly reviewed materials and provided me with further analysis.

In comparing Barr’s principal conclusions, congressional testimony, and other statements to Mueller’s report, it is clear that Barr intended to mislead the public about Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s analysis and findings.

Barr’s misrepresentations are significant but often subtle, frequently taking the form of sleight-of-hand qualifications or logical fallacies, which he hopes people will not notice.

Under our Constitution, the president “shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.” While “high Crimes and Misdemeanors” is not defined, the context implies conduct that violates the public trust.

Contrary to Barr’s portrayal, Mueller’s report reveals that President Trump engaged in specific actions and a pattern of behavior that meet the threshold for impeachment.

In fact, Mueller’s report identifies multiple examples of conduct satisfying all the elements of obstruction of justice, and undoubtedly any person who is not the president of the United States would be indicted based on such evidence.

Impeachment, which is a special form of indictment, does not even require probable cause that a crime (e.g., obstruction of justice) has been committed; it simply requires a finding that an official has engaged in careless, abusive, corrupt, or otherwise dishonorable conduct.

Our system of checks and balances relies on each branch’s jealously guarding its powers and upholding its duties under our Constitution. When loyalty to a political party or to an individual trumps loyalty to the Constitution, the Rule of Law—the foundation of liberty—crumbles.

We’ve witnessed members of Congress from both parties shift their views 180 degrees—on the importance of character, on the principles of obstruction of justice—depending on whether they’re discussing Bill Clinton or Donald Trump.

Few members of Congress even read Mueller’s report; their minds were made up based on partisan affiliation—and it showed, with representatives and senators from both parties issuing definitive statements on the 448-page report’s conclusions within just hours of its release.

America’s institutions depend on officials to uphold both the rules and spirit of our constitutional system even when to do so is personally inconvenient or yields a politically unfavorable outcome. Our Constitution is brilliant and awesome; it deserves a government to match it.

Vanity Fair Contributing Editor Says Trump Should be Handed Over to Saudis and Butchered Like Khashoggi (VIDEO)

And they wonder why their base is so violent and intolerant?

Far left journalist and Vanity Fair contributing editor Fran Lebowitz suggested on Friday night that President Trump be handed over the the Saudi government so they can butcher him like Khashoggi.

Saudi journalist Khashoggi was butchered in the Saudi Embassy in Turkey and chopped into pieces in 2018.

They want us all dead.

The Daily Mail reported:

Fran Lebowitz has sparked outrage after saying that President Trump ‘deserves to be handed over to the Saudis’ to face the same treatment as the late journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who was brutally killed and dismembered.

The liberal author and Vanity Fair contributing editor, 68, made the comments on Friday’s edition of Real Time with Bill Maher as she discussed the Mueller Report and potential impeachment proceedings against the Commander-in-chief.

When asked whether she believes Trump should face impeachment, Lebowitz responded: ‘Impeachment would be just the beginning of what he deserves, not even scratching the surface of what he deserves.

She continued: ‘Whenever I think about this and what he really deserves, I think ‘We should turn him over to the Saudis!’ His buddies! The same Saudis who got rid of that reporter [Khashoggi]. Maybe they could do the same for him!’

Austrian Government Collapses After Two-Year-Old Video Dropped on Far Right Leader Just Days before EU Elections – Police Suspect Western Intelligence Involved

Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz called for snap elections after a two-year-old video was released in the German press showing coalition partner Heinz-Christian Strache discussing contracts with a woman posing as a Russian oligarch’s niece.

From our source in Vienna…

Here is a first account from my cousin, translated

The Austrian right-wing government has resigned — as soon as possible new elections are pending.

The German media released a two-year-old video, which they leaked, anonymously.  The video shows a conversation between two gov’t politicians (the Vice Chancellor and one more) while on vacation in Ibiza. The conversation was secretly filmed. NOW, after 2 years the video was leaked to two German newspapers, two far left newspapers

In the video, the two politicians behave like pubescent adolescents and developed wild political fantasies and claimed support by a few major industrialists………….  Alcohol was in the game and also a beautiful woman.

It was embarrassing to look at it, especially when you know that they are statesmen.

It would be interesting to discover who is behind the video, possibly the Germans themselves – SPD/lefties, or the Vienna SPÖ/lefties? Hopefully it will be announced as soon as possible and BEFORE the elections, but that is not likely.

A political earthquake was triggered, and it was first just the resignation of the FPÖ politicians and now in the evening the resignation of the government.

According to the police, the tape drop was done so professionally that the police suspect (public too) that a Western intelligence service is behind the action.

The newspapers, the two German newspapers, refuse to divulge their sources. It is too strange that exactly ONE week before the EU election the video appears and was not published for 2 years. Who is behind it is deeply repugnant.

Reuters reported:

Austria’s Chancellor Sebastian Kurz called on Saturday for a snap election, pulling the plug on his coalition with the far right after its leader was caught on video discussing state contracts with a woman posing as a Russian oligarch’s niece.

The far right Freedom Party’s Heinz-Christian Strache resigned as vice chancellor and party leader after the video was released by two German news organizations. He acknowledged that the video was “catastrophic” but denied breaking the law.

Kurz, a conservative who formed a coalition with the Freedom Party a year and a half ago, said the apparent video sting, in which Strache discusses contracts in return for financial or political favors, was the last straw in the relationship.

Creepy Old Joe Biden Talks About His Death at Campaign Rally in Philadelphia (VIDEO)

Joe Biden, who will be 78 years old on the next Inauguration Day, talked about his death on Saturday at a campaign rally in Philadelphia.

One of the main arguments against Joe Biden running for president this time around is that he’s too old — so he probably shouldn’t be talking about his death.

President Trump is only a few years younger than Joe Biden, however the President has the energy of a 35-year-old.

“Everyone knows Jill is a Philadelphia girl,” Biden said speaking about his wife. “She loves this city and I do too, but to paraphrase the poet James Joyce — I have to say this folks because I’m near my state and when I die, Delaware will be written on my heart.”

Biden is known for his gaffes and his handlers are working to keep them to a minimum — perhaps they should remind the 76-year-old not to talk about his death during his rallies.
